Torsten Rasch Meinz Herz brennt - orchestral song-cycle with variations

soprano to be announced
The harsh consonants and abrupt syllables of Mein Herz brennt are deceptive in their labelling of music which is so bewitchingly beautiful. My Heart is on Fire is conceived as a classical song cycle, forming the natural musical heir to the creative legacies of Mendelssohn and Mahler that preceded it (and do so literally in this concert). Torsten Rasch's songs - spoken, sung, whispered, shouted - constitute an untrodden music, unspeakably powerful and as gripping as the Romanticism of Beethoven and Mahler, but with an unerring sense of the contemporary.
Royal Festival Hall at 6.15pm: Torsten Rasch talks about the UK premiere of his work Mein Herz brennt.
