The re-opening of the Royal Festival Hall in May 2007 brought about the exciting relaunch of the Gamelan Programme at Southbank Centre.
In addition to classes and workshops, there have been a number of unique events bringing together gamelan players and varied gamelan groups from across the UK and Europe, with invited artists from Indonesia.
Southbank Centre aims to be the centre of excellence for gamelan in Europe and be at the heart of a wide-reaching gamelan community.
This page archives some of the special gamelan concerts and events dating from the magnificent Overture festival 'Gamelanathon' featuring 24 gamelan groups from across Great Britain.
