Gioachino Rossini William Tell (Guillaume Tell) - opera in 4 acts
Chelsea Opera Group Orchestra
Majella Cullagh
Chelsea Opera Group Chorus
The last of Rossini's 39 operas was written for the Paris Opera in 1829. Based on Schiller's Wilhelm Tell, it recounts
the struggle for Swiss independence from Austrian rule in the 13th century, where individual heroism is complemented by the
communal spirit of the people and the calm beauty of the mountains.
